Dear Pelican,

Have you heard that there are only 19 days left during which I’ll be traveling with you?

In the past five months you have really become home away from home to me, and with this letter I want to tell you how grateful I am for this amazing time.

There are a lot of things that I will really miss about you when I’m finally back home…

The first thing I can think of is my moving bed. Once you become used to it, you feel like you will never sleep any better than at sea – like a baby in its cradle.

But to be honest, the moving bed is sometimes also a thing that annoys me whenever the sea is rough – then I rather feel like sleeping on a see-saw with some playing children on it.

There are more things that I really curse now but will miss so badly after our time together. For example, the meals when you had to hold your plate in such a way that the spaghetti didn’t slip off it.

Or how sometimes you needed all your strength to open the cabin door because of the heeling.

I will miss the view from the very top of your masts, and climbing into the bowsprit.

Oh, and I didn’t mention the watches yet.

These watches, especially the night-watches, when we either set some sails or had a chill time chatting, looking out, steering and listening to music.

I bet that one day there will be nothing else I`d rather be doing than laying on the foredeck, writing in my diary and listening to the waves.

I think I could continue with this letter for ages, especially when it comes to the people on board.

But people are a different story, because this letter is about you. Maybe I should write some letters to my friends that I will miss the most as well…

Anyhow, I wish you the very, very best, my dear Pelican, and I hope we will soon see each other again.
Thank you!

Yours, Theresa
