In fantastic weather wiht the typical spanish sun, we had a fully planned day. Early in the morning, the entire ship was cleaned, the compass polished, colorful garlands, bunting and the Ocean College banner hung. Because around noon we got a visit from some officers and a camera team. They wanted to look at the Pelican for a future journey that they are planning, and we all did our best to look smart and represent Ocean College and our ship. After everything looked perfect, some of us went jogging along the harbor and through the city. With bright red heads, everyone stood in line in front of the showers to enjoy the best feeling after exercising.
Around noon some of us went food shopping with Abbie. Greedy to buy fresh fruit, the group came back with half full bags, half of them with eggplants for the vergetarians, so many oranges, apples and other nice fruits. We all eat a lot of fruits here, so everyone was excited to get it restocked! After the fresh food was sorted in and the visit of the officers had disembarked, we had a guided tour with a Guide through Vigo. We got a small impression of the history of Vigo, such has that the Celts had settled here in the past.
We got a chance to see Vigo from above from a castle and enjoyed a fanatstic view . After the tour across the whole city was finished and our legs were heavy from walking all the hills, we had another hour of free shore leave. Most of us bought more fresh sweet fruits and traditional food like Tapas, Tacos and Calamaris. Our final judgement for Spain: it‘s great!
