As everyone knows, today is a very special day. Namely, the last day of the year. “Sylvester”!!! At home, everyone spends this day differently, of course, but this year we’re lucky enough to celebrate New Year together on the Johnny off the coast of Colombia. So now I’ll tell you about this day.

It started like a normal day with breakfast. But excitement could already be felt in the air, among other things because the starboard school group had to write a Spanish test. Luckily, I have time until tomorrow for it.

After that, preparations for the evening began diligently. All over the ship, people helped out, while normal onboard everyday life had to continue. In the lounge, people were seen preparing food or going through the plans for the evening again.

At 06:30, the tension was already great and everyone dressed up. We were given a great dinner by Helene, Liv and Caspar. There were really delicious burgers. Before we were served apple crumble for dessert, we watched a fabulous, self-made “Dinner for One”, with the actors Nepomuk and Amalia.

After that, everyone wrote down the bad things from last year and the goals for this year. We continued with a wonderful singing lesson. All sorts of shanties were sung and the mood was just fabulous. Of course, a game round should not be missing, with all sorts of group games.

Unfortunately, it got a little more stormy, which is why we weren’t allowed to dance at the front of the ship. Nevertheless, there was a great serving in the back of the “Seegarten”, with all sorts of juices, non-alcoholic sekt and ginger shots. A little recommendation from me: The sparkling sekt is a bit too chemical and you shouldn’t take too many ginger shots.

Now it was only half an hour left until New Year’s Eve and we were allowed to move forward with a wonderful view of Cartagena in Colombia. Everyone got twelve nuts instead of grapes because we didn’t have any, which we then had to eat at New Year. Well, the last few minutes had started.

The first early starters from the city had already set off their fireworks. Everyone looked at the clock and waited eagerly. Then it was time: We counted down from 15, the last five seconds were supported with a horn. 5, 4, 3, 2, … 1 🥳 New Year.

Everyone wished everyone a happy new year. The nuts were eaten with pleasure and the notes with our goals found their way into the wide world. Everything was accompanied by fireworks that spread all over the entire city. You can hardly imagine a better start to the new year. At the end, as it should be, we had to clean the ship.

We wish all readers a happy New Year.

Greetings:
