What could be a better start to the day than enjoying the nightsky while doing the 04:00-08:00 watch, solving some riddles with Ronja and Sophie and counting the shootingstars (it were 7!) while having a delicious birthday-cookie from yesterday? Then watching us sailing towards a beautiful sunset after having had some muesli for breakfast?

Actually that’s how my day starts everyday. But although it’s not special no more and just part of the routine, I enjoy it each and every day.

After my watch I spent some time writing my diary in the mess while the morning-group had their biology lesson I went to sleep, because, well, when being on watch from 04:00 to 08:00 you don’t always get that a lot of sleep.

I think I slowly get used to that new daily routine and that I have to divide my sleep into two parts. One in the night and one in the morning.

When I woke up at 11:00 and still had over one hour until lunch I decided to practice some flute. I’m unfortunately not able to practice that often. But if there is a free hour and nothing important to do I would take the opportunity.

We enjoyed having lunch outside on the deck floor. Our cook did such a great job. As always. Still on the deck Nick and I played some Schafkopf, that’s a card game. (Note to my family: Helena taught me a so cool version of Schafkopf that can be played with only two players! I have to teach it to you one day, it’s fun!)

At 14:00 the afternoon class, including me, had their Biology, German and on-our-own-studying-lesson.

Then, after dinner, I directly went to bed to get enough sleep to not be to tired while my nightwatch tomorrow.

Well, as you could see, today was just a normal day of shipsroutine. Nothing special happened. But still it was a very beautiful day!

Lots of love to all my family and friends in Germany!

P.S.: To my cousin Maria: I’m sorry that this daily report is also in English. I hope you could understand it nonetheless! The next one on December 19th is going to be in German for sure!

Niki
