New Captain Michael
Our new Captain is Michael Ramon van Leeuwen. Born in the Netherlands, he now lives in Germany in Bad Pyrmont. He is 33 years old and has been sailing for more than seventeen years, two of those as a captain. Michael worked on cargo ships as well as sailing ships.
He sailed with the for five years on the sailing ship “Pegasus” and for seven years on passenger sailing vessels. He did already four Atlantic crossings two of those with Ocean College. Michael was on the very first Ocean College voyage as an officer. Before he started sailing, he studied Celestial navigation, hence he can teach us a lot about the stars. His hobbies are baseball, photography and cycling. He used to have a dog but not anymore. He has three stepchildren, Leon, Lana, and Leni.
Christmas time
Today we finished school an hour earlier to start our Christmas preparations. Some people baked cookies and others began to craft Christmas decoration while listening to Christmas carols. We had to make the cookie dough twice because the freezer broke down again for a while.
Next morning the gally team made another dough to finish the cookies project. Our first batch burned, but still tasted well. The people in the kitchen that made the chocolate topping looked as if they had a lot of fun. The people who crafted the Christmas decorations were sewing Christmas socks to hang them up and they began to make stars and snowflakes out of Paper.
All in all, it was a day full of Christmas feelings.
