Which food can’t you see anymore?

If you ask this question, I promise you that almost everyone will answer “rice” or “rice with beans,” because we eat this almost every second day.

In the Spanish school, however, we’ve had some other meals. One meal we even cooked by ourselves.

And because we all liked it and it’s a million times better than rice, I will explain to you how to make it.

First of all, we will make tortillas.

Ingredients:

  • corn flour
  • warm water
  • some plant oil

Begin by adding the corn flour into a bowl and then mix it with the warm water.

Slowly add the water to the corn flour and knead it until it becomes a homogeneous mass. Do note that the dough shouldn’t be sticky or too dry.

The next step is quite simple: form the dough into little balls about as big as a child’s fist. Afterwards, flatten the balls so that they are approximately 3–5 mm thick. Next, roast or fry them in a pan until they get a light tan.

Plantain pan (filling)

Ingredients:

  • green plantains (already soft-cooked for 15–20 minutes), cut into small pieces
  • garlic powder
  • onion, cut into small pieces
  • sweet chili, cut into small pieces
  • chopped coriander
  • salt
  • pepper
  • cream
  • butter

First, melt the butter in a pan and then sauté the onion and the sweet chili. Afterwards, add the green plantains, the coriander, garlic powder, salt and pepper and roast it a little bit. In the end, add the cream and let it simmer for a couple of minutes.

Now you can eat it like wraps! Buen provecho.

For dessert, we had some coconut balls.

Ingredients:

  • condensed milk
  • milk powder
  • desiccated coconut

Mix all ingredients together until it is almost homogeneous, but not completely. It should be only a little dry. Then form small balls, a bit smaller than ping-pong balls.

If you decide to make it, then we hope you’ll enjoy your meal! We did!
