We can FINALLY go on land after sailing for days! Immediately after docking in the harbor, we ran to the showers as fast as possible because everyone could barely breathe below deck by that point.

A group that informs us about Vigo – Ella, Miriam, Jakob, Johannes and Pepe – talked about these topics:

  • Climate: Vigo has a moderate climate with an average temperature of 17–25°C and almost no rain.
  • Population: About 300,000 people live in Vigo.
  • History: Vigo was founded by the Romans and has been a fishing city ever since, mainly known for fishing octopus.

They also showed us a building called the Church of Santa Maria at the Plaza de la Iglesia, which was burned down by pirates about 300 years ago. We also saw lots of funny-looking sculptures, like a man who fell on his face, a guy riding a snail and more.

After the introduction to Vigo, we split into groups of three or four and some groups combined.

One group went to eat special Spanish food, like calamari and fried octopus with a halved lemon – which, unsurprisingly, tasted just like fish. There were also many street musicians near the restaurants. We also got a new captain today!

At 6 p.m., everyone reunited in front of the Regina Maris and the evening followed our usual routine: Eating dinner, playing games, chatting with friends and then going to bed.

Tomorrow, we’ll go on a day trip to Santiago de Compostela. It will be awesome!

Enno: Brief ist geschrieben und auf dem Weg, aber hatte nach dem ersten keine Zeit mehr. Mit dem ersten Anruf kommt vielleicht mehr. Bussis
