Getting Phones for the first time

Today started with a breakfast where Captain Norbert and Jürgen said goodbye and left. The new crew, who arrived a day earlier, presented themselves. After the breakfast, we were allowed to take our phones, then we went to a beach nearby by bus.

It was unusual to see all the people with their phones after we spent more than a month together without a phone. We called our parents and friends and told them how it is to be on a sailing boat. It was very nice to hear from our families. Some of us went swimming after they were finished with their calls and we picknicked at the beach.

When we got back to the ship, we had to do some work on deck. We got positioned for new watches and new sails and got to learn about the sails. While I was packing a sail, students from the Regina Maris came to our boat and wanted to play football with us. Unfortunately, we weren’t finished with our work, but we talked about the ships and later some of us got a room tour.

In the evening, the third biggest sailboat of the world, the Black Pearl, entered the harbor.

We all watched how it brassed the sails in seconds. After that, we had dinner and everyone helped in the kitchen because we all wanted to get free shore leave.
