Our spiritual Travel

I think all of you have used transport at least once in your life in Germany – be it a bus, a train or a car. But we experienced a few new methods of transportation in Costa Rica.

For example, have you ever ridden on a banana truck with 35 other people? Because we did and it was awesome! You could stand or sit where normally bananas are transported.

We told each other stories, tied each other’s shoes together or simply enjoyed the beautiful nature while the dust of the streets covered us.

While we were riding on the truck, we saw and experienced a lot of crazy things. First, we drove by a store called Super Gerald, which instantly reminded us of our first captain. A bit later, we had the unique experience of driving next to a bridge – through the river itself. Because, why would we need a bridge?

After that, we finally reached our goal for the day: A small village of indigenous people.

In the village, we learned about the belief system of the indigenous people living there. Long story short, they don’t believe in a god but in essences.

Every life form has its own place in a ranking, which is structured like a diamond. One peak is above the earth, symbolized by their spiritual buildings, while the other peak is below the earth, unseen by us.

After this was explained to us, we participated in a spiritual dance. When the dancing was done, we traveled a bit further to a slightly more modern village. There, we were taught how to make cornflour using a giant stone table and a big, round stone.

Later, when everyone got back into the transporter, we also gave a ride to a drunk man and took him to another village. Then we arrived at a large nearby river.

We took boats – similar to the ones we carried through the jungle – with motors. While we were on the boat, Franz suddenly experienced „seasickness“ again and had to throw up.

But aside from that, we just returned and were surprised with rice and beans for lunch.
