After being on shore for a few days, we are slowly settling into our board life again. To describe our life here on board, we all wrote a little poem together:

Our Johnny is over the ocean

The sea is calm and nice
And our captain Norbert is very wise

So he teaches us what he knows
And our knowledge grows

The toilets are always stinky
So closing the nostrils is an instincty

This turn Nele will be fine
And won’t throw up this time

So there will be no wailing,
Only sailing

But when we are seasick
Zwieback is our best trick

There is no Ale,
But we might see a whale

A little sneak peek into a school day:

The port-side group had nautic class with Norbert again, where we finished talking about what we would do in case of a fire. We all got to choose a specific task, like ‚Verschlusszustand Vorschiff‘ for example, where you have to close all openings for the fresh air supply.

Norbert wrote down all the different tasks, so we all know what we have to do if there is a fire on the ship. We had to try out if all the openings are closing properly, of course, so we went over and under deck to check them.

After we got new energy from the delicious Chili con/sin carne the galley team made today, we were ready for math class with Johanne and Lea. To practice Spanish or math or to do other tasks we have from our schools back home, we had „INSEL.“ This is time we can use to practice different subjects with the teachers or to do the tasks from home.

To reflect on our time in Morocco, we talked about our experiences in Essaouira and what surprised us during our time there. There were answers like: The poverty, the low prices and how many animals there are on the streets. We also talked about religion and how it plays a much bigger role in Morocco, than it does in Germany.

‚Der grüne Marsch‘ was another topic we discussed and its historical background. When we visited the school a few days ago, they celebrated it and told us, that it was very peaceful and only good and everything. Because of the reflection today, we came to the conclusion, that you should always question statements and representations like this and that nothing can be just good.

Before dinner, we had a little nail session where a few of us painted our nails, while others were dancing classic dances like disco fox or cha-cha-cha and others (aka Malte and Jacob) were just chilling.

Later this evening, we had a few meetings because we had to solve a problem with our bathroom door. It is still not solved, but hopefully, it will be soon!

Greetings
