Today our day started as every day with the beautiful voice in our ear whispering: “Wake up! It’s seven a.m., your watch begins in one hour…” (of course in German).

After a short breakfast we had to get ready for our 8-12 watch, which is always really difficult due to our still continuing seasickness.

At first, our watch started with a beautiful sky full of stars which quickly turned into a sunny day. When it got bright, we could bream the „rah sails“, so the sails stay better in the wind.

After that, our watch was really calm so we could practice a few knots, e.g. the eight knot and we learned the knot that keeps the unused sails in place at the rah (½ round turn with 2 half hitches).

After cleaning the deck we could enjoy the sun and luckily the waves got smaller, which made the seasickness less uncomfortable.

That led us to do an intermediate and ask people how much they were affected by the sickness during the first week on board.

On a scale from one to ten, how much were you affected by the seasickness?
