TS Pelican of London in Dublin
Pelican in the harbor of Dublin

First impression at the arrival

The sailing vessel seemed to be quite big on the outside, but small on the inside. The cabins are very small and the windows also and the cabins are quite hot inside.

The deck is slanting what makes it more difficult to play games on it.

The sound system we are called to all meetings and the breakfast with is hard to understand although the crew is good to understand.

The crew is patient with each passenger and stays calm.

The other kids on the ship

Seven kids from the UK were already on board the ship and had arrived the night before. I hope that my English is good enough for proper communication and that we will learn a lot from each other.

It is cool that we`ll then have friends from the UK.

In the middle of the day we ate salty bread with tomato sauce. After that, Jacob brought almost everyone to the Pelican of London from the Dublin airport.

Getting to know everything and everybody

On the ship we met the watchleaders who will take care of us during the voyage. And we were made familiar with everything on board and met the crew. (We have a german captain 😊).

We can speak to him too in cases of emergency.

beginning of the journey: participants at the helm

For dinner our cook Abbie made Pasta with Bolognese sauce, which was good. We also tested our equipment later that evening and were taught about safety and life on the ship.

It is a lot of information to remember.

Tomorrow we will be allowed to climb up the mast for the first time.

After all that the last three people arrived and so far everybody seems very nice. Some people had to do harbor watches, which means that they have to make sure everything is safe and normal during the night.

Then we made our beds and slept until the next day.
