After the first night in our new cabins, the bus came and picked us and the guys from the Regina Maris up and drove us to the Guajara, where we started our hiking adventure at a small restaurant.

Because of the recommendation from the office of the national park not to go up because of a potential thunderstorm and some unexpected bad weather, the teachers decided to take a more easy route.

So we started our trip through the rough volcanic landscape. We all were enjoying it, because it looked so different from the landscape we were used to see; it was a little bit like being on another planet.

After about a two-hour walk, which passed unexpectedly fast, because we were talking all the time in small groups, it was time for a short break and we ate the lunch we had prepared earlier on the Johnny.

The route led us to an empty hill where it was really windy, for which reason some of us got really cold. But the view was so enjoyable, that it was worth this little discomfort. After we had chosen which way we should take back to the bus, we continued the tour.

Thirty minutes before we arrived at our starting point, it got cloudy and rainy, so all of the people who did not have the right clothing got wet.

In the evening, we visited the Regina Maris for the first time. We were all surprised by how much space there was inside the ship and also how comfortable the temperature was, because of the good airflow. The coffeemaker on the Regina was also not in any way comparable to ours.

But actually, even though the Reggie is more comfortable, I like the Johnny still more, because I think it’s the safer ship. In my opinion, you could say the Reggie is a big, old caravan and the Johnny a small but safe one.
So, both ships have their up and down sides.
