First day on a sailing ship

Hey and welcome on board.

Waking up we realised the engine had already started, so we rushed up in fear of being late on our first day. On deck the whole crew was lined up ready to perform one difficult manoeuvre. We watched them motor the boat out of our safe spot in the harbour, while communicating in a nautical language we did not understand.

After a while in the dark and cold minutes we were gifted with a stunning sunrise.

On our way out we had to go through a lock splitting the ocean and Amsterdam apart. While our parents were waving their last goodbyes we drove out in the big wide world.

As I was busy cooking in the kitchen, the others had their first watches on board and learned the first steps of sailing such a big ship. From hour to hour the waves grew bigger and bigger.

And surprise surprise we lost our first fellow students to seasickness.
