Insight into the weather

My morning started off with joining my watch at 8am. The first thing I did was to document the weather and everything else that is important.

If you are wondering what that is I will now tell you about it. You have to take the temperature of the water and the air. Furthermore you have to check how much of the sky is covered in clouds and have to figure out the humidity. Additionally to the weather you have to document your nautical position as well as the cog (course over ground), sog (speed over ground) and our heading.

When we have collected all our data we have to write everything down on the computer and then save it so our Steuermann has it all.

In my watch I was given the opportunity to give commands for „Vortoppbrassen“ which was a lot of fun. My watch ended with a smaller version of documenting the weather. After my watch everyone was excited for the curry that was made in the galley.

After Lunch the two other watchleaders and I sat down together to get ready for a small meeting with some of the crew. While waiting for the meeting to start we hung out on deck and spent our time enjoying the good weather and playing cards.

After our meeting we were happy to have the delicious cake that was made.

I was also shown how to turn on the water flow in the machine room for washing the deck. I then got to go back down to see how it gets turned off again. In the beginning of the night watch we were given a proper insight to the machine room and a lot was explained to us.

To end the day the teacher Nik put out a plankton net and the bioluminescence was beautiful to see.

Topsi Lotta: Hallihallo meine Lieben. Es wurde fluoreszierender Plankton gefunden -> haben eine halbe Stunde einen Sack voll Sterne gekuckt. Übrigens bin ich krank, also Nasenspray und Bonbons waren genau richtig.
