Reinschiff is now a weekly routine we all have to follow, so I want to give you a little overview of how it works, what it is and what we do.

Reinschiff is every Saturday, but today it was an exception because we will anchor tomorrow. It is usually from 16:00 to 18:00 and is an all-hands event. We all get separated into different groups and clean the ship together. Now I want to give you a little view of what you have to do in some of the groups.

Vorschiff:

In the front of the ship you have the girls’ cabins and the four boys’ cabins. You start by cleaning the floor and making it free so you can vacuum and wipe it. Another job for the Vorschiff team is, if the Green Plan wasn’t good enough, to clean the toilets and wipe the mirrors and finish the work.

Brücke:

On the bridge you start by wiping all the surfaces and afterwards you clean the windows from the inside. Then you vacuum and mop the floor. In the end, you have to clean the windows from the outside.

Messe:

Here you have a lot of work to do. After wiping all the surfaces, some people clean the floor while others unpack all of the boxes under the benches, wipe them out, check how much food we still have and then organize everything.

Kombüse:

In the galley you don’t only have the hottest workplace, you also have some super annoying jobs like cleaning the oven, washing all the dishes, cleaning the coffee machine, teapots and other things or organizing the spices. But a big plus for the galley is that there is always the best music, which makes the work there a little bit less annoying.
