A day in Cies

After waking up to “Schnappi, das kleine Krokodil” blasting through our cabins at 7:00 am, we had to hurry because after breakfast we had something exciting planned for today: after the morning all-hands call and deep clean, we would go on a trip to the Cíes Islands!

We were all pretty hyped for the upcoming trip since the day Deli announced it. So we made sure to clean fast and then gathered on deck together with our stuff.

To be honest, the weather was pretty bad, so some of us questioned whether or not to pack our swimming clothes, but we did so anyway.

The short cruise to the islands was nothing special and when we arrived, we sorted ourselves into two big groups (each group had a tour guide to explore the island).

We had two options for the upcoming hike: 1. A 40 min hike to a lookout platform or 2. A 1 1/2 h walk to the lighthouse on top of the island.

Of course, we chose the lighthouse (more or less motivated xD) and then went on our way.

Our tour guides did an amazing job explaining the nature and history of the islands and their background (for example, how it became a national park and so on…).

After 1 1/2 hours, we finally arrived at the lighthouse and the view was so worth it!

After a quick lunch break (and amazing cookies from Mark), we made our way back down and went to “Carmen Beach,” where we swam and played volleyball for about an hour.

Before leaving the island, our teachers did a short workshop with us. We learned about personal space and boundaries. I think we all learned that boundaries are different for each and everyone and we have to respect that.

Right now, we are cruising back to the Roald and are happy because of the dinner and the upcoming football match (FCB vs. FC).

We hope that the days we have left in Vigo will be as beautiful and funny as this day, so on that note: goodnight from Vigo!

Greetings,

Milena and Mila 🙂
