A perfect day on the Atlantic Ocean

For most of us the day usually starts at 07:00. But you can expect the students from the 0–4 watch earliest at 11:00 to have their lunch at 11:30.

Today we had a delicious chicken curry. Most of the days we eat on deck because it gets very stuffy and warm below deck. On deck you always have a fresh breeze that cools you down.

After lunch at 12:00 there is a watch change: The 8–12 watch ends and the 0–4 watch begins.

During the day watch we did some maintenance with our bosun Christoph. We repainted wooden chests and some nail benches on deck. We also took ropes from the deck and climbed to the first floor of the Vortopp to hold them in place.

At 14:55 we had a safety exercise. We were told to bring our life vests and survival gear on deck to check everything.

After the safety check we cross-braced yards of the sails to stop the ship.

Then we had our coffee time with cinnamon rolls and cookies. It tasted amazing!

The rest of the afternoon we continued our chess tournament and the games had some unexpected results. So ends a perfect day on our Atlantic crossing under a starry sky.
