A very sunny St. Nicholas day with great food

Ship: Roald Amundsen
Date: 06.12.2025
Position: Atlantic
Nautical Position: 14° 26,7‘N 035°01,3‘W
Etmal: 139
Course: 295
Temperature: 30°C

In today‘s night wach we found new names for the rolls on the ship:

  • Ausguck = Ausguckengel
  • Rudergänger = Schlittenführer
  • Steuermänner = Oberwichtel
  • Topsi = Wichtel
  • Peer (Kapitän) = Weihnachtsmann
  • Rüdiger (Arzt) = Rentierflüsterer
  • Schüler = Rentiere
  • Lehrer = Grinch
  • Wetterfrösche = Frau Holle
  • Wolf (Maschinist)= Krampus

When we woke up in the morning for breakfast, we found a mini chocolate and some nuts in our shoes, which we had put next to the door the evening before. In the Messe, a card showing St. Nicholas in some connection with the Roald was hanging in front of each cup.

For lunch the Backschaft made pizza for all of us, which made us very happy because it was delicious and something we hadn’t eaten on board before. To make pizza for everyone, the Backschaft had a very stressful time before lunch, but they did a great job. So thanks a lot to them.

Later, Emilian gave his Pathway presentation on sea currents, which was interesting. After that, Lotta and Jonas taught us how to pack a sail properly so we would know how to do it correctly for the rest of our time here.

It was also a bit funny because of the way they demonstrated it to us via the „Spillspaken“.
