Dancing on the Waves

Today I want to give you a little view into our new watch system and the daily life on board.

As you already know, we are separated into different watches: the A watch from 08:00 to 12:00 and 20:00 and 24:00, the B watch from 00:00 to 04:00 and 12:00 to 16:00 and the C watch from 04:00 to 08:00 and 16:00 to 20:00.

In our daily life, we have in our watches the starboard and the port side. Those two parts are rotating from day to day, which gives us the opportunity to have one day of school and one day of watch.

Watch day:

My day in the B watch starts at midnight and then four hours of watch. Afterwards, I go to sleep again, just to wake up for lunch and my next watch. After my day watch, I have free time until the next morning when school starts.

School day:

My day starts at 07:00 with waking up with Leopold and Roque and really bad music. At 07:30 we have breakfast and afterwards the Green Plan begins, where we have to clean the toilets and the mess. The rest of the day is separated into three sections.

Before lunch we have board lessons that start at 08:45 and nautics. Afterwards we have lessons like Spanish, German and chemistry. After lunch we have self-learning time, where we have to do the work from our home school.

After the all-loved cake break we have the AG time, where we have, for example, on Sundays a choir or on Saturdays the big ship cleaning.

Today, during the AG time, we had a Friesenrock dance course on the front deck. With Cecily and Nepomuk as teachers, most of us can now proudly say that they even master the “Ludwig”. Only the Ylvapold still causes many difficulties. The dance course was super fun and now we all feel well prepared for the Mid-Atlantic Ball, which will be soon.
