How Bad It Really Is

Ship: Johnny
Date: 26.10.2025
Position: English Channel
Geographical Position: 50°37.66’ N, 00°29.48’ W
Etmal: unknown

Better Situation:

In the morning, some of us came back to life. They had overcome the seasickness and came back to strength, but the lobby is still an infirmary.

First Warm Meal:

The first warm meal we had at sea was rice with Chili sin Carne in the evening. We were glad that several people were able to join the meal.

How Bad Is the Situation Really?

Around 18:30, a coast guard helicopter asked for our permission to do a training with our ship. Captain Norbert said that he appreciated this and so the maneuver started, and we took the last preparations like taking the flag down. The helicopter flew over our deck for around ten minutes.

But then, in the radio call, they said that due to the amount of rigging from the Jonny and the beginning darkness, they were not able to make the maneuver. So they turned back to their coast guard station on land.

Night Watch:

The watches were mostly quiet, but at around 23:00 we had an AIS warning for a storm. But the rest of the night and morning were great.

Unfortunately, we weren’t able to sail and had to drive under our machine. Hopefully, we can start sailing in the next few days.

Greenwich:

In the evening we had crossed the Prime Meridian, so now our ship is also on European winter time.

Learnings of the Day:

  • Seasickness is going away
  • Every day we learn more and more
  • (Dry bread) Zwieback is a whole meal
  • Tamo is not able to get seasick or tired
