“Land in Sight” – Sören

Finally…

Tonight, we will probably arrive and anchor in the bay of Essaouira. But there’s still a lot to do until then – and a day out here offers more than you’d expect.

During breakfast, after Norbert got upset about hair in the toilet, we were told about the plan for the day.

To prepare for our six days in Morocco, we first opened the bilge so we could swap our stored summer clothes with the winter stuff. After that, we had until 11:00 to pack a backpack with everything needed for the hostel, since we won’t be sleeping on the ship but in a hostel instead.

After lunch – which was a fantastic lasagna made by the galley crew – we continued with “Reinschiff,” meaning everyone had to clean the whole ship again. Besides that, some of us (like me) had to help André and Jürgen take photos of the torn sails.

The problem was that those sails were already packed tightly in the sail locker. So, we first had to unpack everything, take the necessary photos, and then put it all back just like before. Easier said than done…

When everything was finally done, the bilge was packed and closed again. In between, we could enjoy the sunset and the amazing weather that has been with us for days now.

At 22:30, Sören came into the mess room with the A watch to share the good news – we had arrived in Morocco.

Helene: Heyyy, wie geht’s euch so? Mir geht’s super. Ich hatte heute Backschaft also Küchendienst und natürlich wurde ab 11:11 Karnevalsmusik gespielt, da ich das hier ja etablieren muss😊. Heute Nacht kommen wir endlich in Marokko an und ich freue mich schon so. Hab‘ euch alle lieb.

Paul und Leopold: Uns geht’s super, wir hoffen, dass wir in Marokko zusammen auf ein Zimmer kommen, weil wir noch nicht viel zusammen in einer Gruppe waren. An Pauls Eltern: Leopold kommt zum Oktoberfest zu uns.
