No sleep – that describes my day very well. Starting the day with a 05:00 watch, it only got better because of an all-hands maneuver at 07:15, because we finally reached our next stop – Santa Cruz de Tenerife!!

We already could see the glamorous city one hour before we reached the actual port – huge, white, modern buildings in front of a mysterious chain of high mountains. Very impressive and a big difference to the landscape we were used to at the last stop (Morocco).

So, as we truly arrived at the port, a big surprise was already waiting for us: Our partner ship (friends or rivals??) was already stranded here and we could admire their pirate sailing ship for the first time… but we didn’t get to know the Roald kids today though – that will happen tomorrow when we go hiking in the mountains together…

Except for our arrival, three of our old beloved crew members had to say goodbye today. Urs, Jürgen and our captain Norbert are leaving us because they want to see their families again :))

But nevertheless, we made every one of them a beautiful farewell – every watch had prepared a card with a poem for their helmsman. I think some of them even had to shed a tear 🥲

After lunch, the exhausting part of the day began – the cleaning of the whole ship. But exhausting for everyone except us – the proviant team. We are proud of being able to give you all a look into our work life today…

So first, unfortunately, we had to clean the food room. That doesn’t make fun because it’s so full you can barely move inside, puhhhh. But as we finished, the teachers told us that we are also responsible for the grocery shopping tour, so we grabbed some bags and were the first ones of our boat to go on land to start our shopping trip.

With a partner of Oceans College, we drove to the hugest grocery store here in town to buy food for the next months. Everything there was just available in extra big packages. We saw 10 kg boxes of Nutella or 50-liter canisters of olive oil, for example.

We were given a list of all we should buy and started exploring the whole store. It was quite fun until we noticed that it was impossible to keep an overview of what we already bought and where to find what, and after two hours of searching for food in a “food-IKEA” we got really, really tired…

So always one of us was allowed to sit in the „Einkaufswagen“ and could just enjoy the ride through the paradise of nourriture.

In the end, we finally had all our products together and could pay a proud price of three and a half thousand euros. In the evening, we had a free shore leave on top and were allowed to eat dinner in a restaurant of our choice :))

For us, it was emplanadas with cheese and falafel and a Spanish dessert (postre in Spanishhhh).

Good night, dear readers and till tomorrow!!
