Here comes the first full daily report from us, the students of OC 2025/26. We’re excited to share some impressions of our eventful day!

Exercises for Safety

After being on time for our first delicious breakfast, we spent the morning practicing safety exercises. We built up a safety island, which was very fascinating, since the tent came explosively out of a container. Luckily, we had been warned and could jump out of the way in time.

We talked about the uses of all the equipment inside the tent and came to enjoy the very delicious but hard and dry safety cookies.

To practice the worst-case scenario, we climbed into the tent and although we were wearing the voluminous and uncomfortable life jackets, we had enough space for 13 people. As you can imagine, it was very cozy.

Setting the Sails with Norbert and Jürgen

Even though we haven’t left the harbour yet, it’s important not to waste our time, since we have to be prepared for the rough sea. Norbert (our captain) and Jürgen (the first helmsman) filled our minds with a lot of technical sailing terms, for example jib, foresail, schooner, mainsail, etc.

For some of us, it was just a little repetition and for others, a huge overload. But Norbert promised that we’ll learn it pretty soon. All of us are hyped and want to leave the harbour as soon as possible as an expert.

New Haircut for Nepumuk

Another highlight of the day was that Nepumuk decided to change his style after only 24 hours. All of us were very supportive and wanted to look at him as soon as possible. We weren’t able to convince him to get an R9, but it was enough for the buzzcut. We already got used to it and Nepumuk is a fan of his new haircut as well.

Deep Talk in the Evening

To end the day, we had a wonderful workshop about personal distance and boundaries. We split up into two groups: Boys and girls.

Matching the topic, we girls squeezed ourselves into the princess palace (the twelve-girl cabin). We had nice discussions and conversations and everyone was able to speak freely and connect to each other a bit more.

We’re looking forward to the next days and to continuing to grow as a family!

Ahoi 🙂
