Roaches??? Not again... - Ocean College

As you just saw, the day started with a birthday brunch 🙂 Because Emil and Nepomuk both turned a year older today. Everybody sat down at the tables in the mess and immediately our captain told us the bad news: A roach had been sighted and we had to repair the Rahsail, more about that later.

So I volunteered with Margot and Sophia to clean up the grocery room (I forgot the word for Proviantraum). We had to take everything out of the room and made little trails of insect poison. It was quite boring but halfway through our work we had to stop because of ✨free shore leave✨.

Walking and swimming

So, at 13:02 I left with Klara and Charlotte to look around town and shop a little bit 🙂 We found a store that sells handmade soap. We each bought one and left for the supermarket. There we met up with a few other girls and we ate lunch together.

After more strolling around town, we all met up at an ice cream store where Nepomuk’s parents bought ice cream for all of us (thank you!!!).

After eating we went to Tobacco Bay, which is a snorkeling bay. There we swam for a bit before we went back to the ship for a delicious lasagna.

The Rahsail, the ninth sail to rip 🙂

So, as you guys may know, our Rahsail ripped on the Atlantic Ocean. So we had to take it off 🙂 Yayyyyy, it happened like this: First six people had to climb up the mast, then they had to cut the more than 40 knots holding the sail up.

Then the people on the ground had to slowly let it down and at last we had to fold it and carry it off board. Now we have to wait until it’s not raining anymore and then we can start the sewing.

Well then, in short we had a great day, the birthday boys celebrated and we worked a lot. We hope you also had a great day 😉
