Actually Tamo, our former medic, is the trendsetter. He started crocheting at the first Atlantic crossing. Because of him, more and more people joined the crocheting round in the evening. Now, Börtie and Josi are the new leader of our club.

They have the best instructions for crocheted butterflies, knotted bracelets or knitted scarfs.
Very popular: Jellyfishes and whales in every size and colour. In the pictures you can see some of our best results, for example Tom’s monster whale or Börties Mobilé.

It’s very cozy when we sit around the table together and everyone has an own project while we’re talking.
If I’ve now encouraged you to start crocheting as well – here are the instructions for a little Jellyfish. I really recommend to have a try!

This is everything you need:
• Yarn (any color you like, cotton works well)
• Crochet hook (size appropriate for your yarn, e.g. 3–4 mm)
• Stuffing
• Yarn needle for the face
• black yarn for the eyes
Abbreviations:
MR = Magic Ring -> there are many tutorials on YouTube – it’s hard to explain
sc = single crochet
inc = increase (2 sc in same stitch)
dec = decrease (single crochet 2 stitches together)
sl st = slip stitch
ch = chain
st = stitch
rnd = round
Body
Round 1:
MR, 6 sc (6) -> numbers in brackets for the final amount of stitches
Round 2:
inc in each st around (12)
Round 3:
(sc, inc) repeat around (18)
Round 4:
(2 sc, inc) repeat around (24)
Round 5:
(3 sc, inc) repeat around (30)
Rounds 6–9:
sc in each st around (30)
Add eyes between rounds 6–7 with the black yarn.
Round 10:
(3 sc, dec) repeat around (24)
Round 11:
(2 sc, dec) repeat around (18)
Now you can start stuffing the jellyfish.
Round 12:
(1 sc, dec) repeat around (12)
Round 13:
dec around (6)
Finally fasten off and close.
Tentacles
1. ch 20–30
2. 2 sc in each chain back toward the body (this creates a curl)
3. sl st into next stitch on the body
Repeat around the bottom to create as many tentacles as you like. Add longer or shorter tentacles for more variation.

I hope you will enjoy crocheting as much as I do. If you have any questions, wait one week till we meet at the harbour in Scheveningen or when it’s an emergency and you can’t wait: Contact the Johnny. I’m looking forward to answer every question you have 😉
