A nice morning on the Johnny

Last night we set our Breitfock and left the bay from Mindelo to sail to another bay. The night was very peaceful and nothing happened. In the morning we had a delicious breakfast and afterwards we did the Green Plan.

In this time our teachers talked to some local people who came with their boat. They planned to bring us to a spot where we could swim with sea turtles.

After we finished the Green Plan, we had the chance to jump from the boat into the ocean. The water was very warm and we had a lot of fun. Roque saw that we had a rope hanging around our Schiffsschraube and with a knife he cut the rope.

Sea turtles and fishes

The locals brought us in two groups to the spot. I was in the second. When we arrived, the locals threw fish into the sea to lead the turtles to us. We left the boat one after another and went into the water. After a few minutes the first turtle came to our position to eat the fish. We were very excited. These majestic animals swam right next to us.

I was very happy to have the chance to swim with the turtles. Besides the turtles, blue fish also swam around us. My group also saw a ray. In the end, some of us swam back to the Johnny and the others went with the boat.

Swimming and preparing

After eating lunch, the Bootsmannsgruppe learned with our Dingi how to rescue a man overboard. At the moment, this team consists of Liv, Ellena, Tom and me (Melanie). To simulate a person, we threw a buoy overboard. At the end we all saved the buoy. Next we learned how we moor the boat beside the Johnny. I needed a few tries to get it right.

Between preparing the food and swimming we also swung from a rope on board into the ocean. That was very nice.

We decided that we would like to eat wraps for dinner, so everyone got a task to do, like cutting the salad or making some dips. For this special time Thomas allowed us to eat on deck. Normally this is not allowed.

It was a very nice day. We had a lot of fun and had a nice time in the water. I cannot believe that today is the third of December.
