Chill-day in Morocco

Today was another chill-day in Morocco because some of us are not feeling too good and the upcoming days will be much busier than today. We got the opportunity to lie in bed and catch up on some sleep or relax in other ways, like by listening to music or reading a book. Others used the day to do something for school, work on their Pathways or have free shore leave in groups of 6.

Impressions of Morocco and the orphanage

How do you find the days here in Morocco?

Gritti: I think the city is very beautiful and the people here are really nice and welcoming. Because we’ve been here for almost two weeks, it already feels like home somehow.

Falk: Great! I absolutely love them. I enjoy the free shore leaves and the atmosphere

Emma: The days here are a big change from the usual environment we see in Europe, especially the atmosphere on the streets and the culture shock we had at the beginning.

Klara: I think it’s so cool to be in Africa and to experience the new culture. Before Morocco, I have never been outside of Europe and here I see things I have only seen in movies and documentaries and it’s completely normal. (Like chicken, that are getting killed on the streets or the daily praying singing)

What was your coolest experience?

Gritti: When we got lost in the streets of Marrakech, a shop owner started talking to us in German and he told us that he lived in Hannover, just like me 🙂 He ultimately told us how to get back.

Falk: The Visit at the orphanage and the surfing, I can’t decide which one was cooler.

Emma: One of the moments I really enjoy is when you try to negotiate the price of something. The best part of it is when you get the product for one-third of the original price.

Klara: One of the best moments was when a juice seller allowed us, while we were waiting for our lunch, to play German music. That was very funny because we sang and no one on the street could understand us. And also Marrakech at night was very cool.

How was the stay in the orphanage for you yesterday?

Gritti: I think it was really fun to draw and play with the kids. And it seemed like the kids were really enjoying themselves, which I was very happy about.

Falk: It was amazing; I really liked to play with the children.

Emma: A once-in-a-lifetime experience, which I am really happy I was allowed to take part in. The little children were shy in the beginning but open to getting to connecting with us after a while. I was amazed to see everyone interacting as a media-pathway person who was filming.

Klara: It was a lot of fun, playing with the children, even when I was very exhausted afterwards by all the running.

Foreign-country-experience and the orphanage

All in all we can say that it is an interesting foreign-country-experience and the stay yesterday in the orphanage was also a great experience. Everyone came out of the orphanage with a smile. That was so cool to see.
