Here on the Regina Maris we discovered many new hobbies for us. One of them is the braiding of bracelets. You can braid them almost anywhere (except on watch of course) and you need nothing but just a few threads and a bit of skill.

You can also design bracelets in all kinds of colors and patterns. Making bracelets is fun, that’s because almost everyone here on board wears one. We also make bottle holders so that you can hang the bottles in all sorts of places.

Interview with a professional bracelet maker

Aurelius: How did you come up with the idea of making bracelets ?

Jane: My cousin taught me a few years ago and I found that a bit complicated in the past, but I was bored at some point and then I tried it again.

Aurelius: How is it to be a professional bracelets maker?

Jane: It’s nice, but it’s also exhausting because a lot of people want that I teach it and then of course I don’t say no. Also, it takes a really long time to finish such a bracelet, but it’s a lot of fun.

Aurelius: What do you like the most about your job ?

Jane: I think there are always new possibilities that you can do with the bracelets. You can get very creative, also bring in your own ideas or look at things from others and just switch off during braiding.
