Tuition fees

The total cost for the six-month journey from mid-October to mid-April is €27,000.

The costs are the same for students and watch leaders.

We are continuously trying to find sponsors and foundations for the project in order to lower the price in the long run. We advise all participants to actively work on co-financing the cruise. Directly approaching companies and crowdfunding are good options here.

Application form

Payment methods at Ocean College

  1. Down payment in the gross amount of € 6,500 immediately upon receipt of the security certificate (Ocean College, as a professional travel provider, is legally obligated to secure customer funds with so-called insolvency insurance).
  2. Payment in the amount of gross € 6,500 12 weeks prior to the start of the trip
  3. Final payment in the gross amount of € 14,000 seven weeks prior to departure.

Optionally, an installment payment for the remaining €20,500 after the initial down payment can be agreed in six monthly installments for a one-time surcharge of €500. The surcharge is due with the first installment.

The cost of the journey includes:

  • Equipment with sailing clothes (jacket and trousers)
  • Equipment with Ocean College team clothing
  • Full board during the whole trip
  • School lessons by qualified teachers
  • Nautical training under the guidance of a professional crew
  • Project language English with international crew
  • Travel expenses, accommodation, entrance fees, expeditions during the shore leaves
  • Attendance of a language school in Central America
  • Individual coaching through regular feedback sessions

The cost of the journey does not include:

  • Pocket money
  • Vaccination costs
  • travel health insurance (obligatory)
  • Travel to and from the ship
  • Repatriation costs during the trip

Scholarship

Ocean College is an adventure for life that our participants remember as an unforgettable experience. At the same time, we are aware that this experience comes at a price and we have been working for years to make the trip accessible to youth whose families are not financially able to afford it.

Therefore, we are very pleased to be able to award three full scholarships for winter voyage 23/24. We have the companies ritzenhoefer & company and BG Zuffenhausen to thank for this, each financing one place for the trip.

Another place is provided together with the parents of the current trip and Ocean College itself.

We anticipate being able to offer scholarship spots for the journey 24/25 as well.

To apply for a scholarship with Ocean College, you must demonstrate social support (Citizen’s Allowance or Housing Allowance).

  • Student:in, 15-17 years old
  • Current report card
  • Significant application
  • Letter of recommendation from a teacher

The cost of the journey does not include:

  • Travel to and from the ship
  • Vaccination costs
  • Health insurance abroad
  • Pocket money

These extra costs amount to a total of approx. 1000,- EUR
